Jabbok is a Scripture reflection companion — not emergency care, licensed therapy, pastoral authority, or a substitute for professional mental health support. If you are in immediate danger or emotional crisis, please contact emergency services or call/text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7).
Perhaps no other book in history has had a greater impact than the Bible. It is the most widely published book ever, read by people in thousands of languages all over the world. In some cultures, its stories, expressions, and ideas have been so thoroughly absorbed they seem almost invisible. Jabbok invites you to discover the Bible's presence around you — often in unexpected and hidden ways.— Adapted from Museum of the Bible
JABBOK explores what Scripture means for your life today — God's long record of walking with us, honest conversation, and the questions you don't always feel comfortable asking out loud.
At its core, JABBOK is a conversation. You bring a verse, a question, a season of life, a doubt, a grief, a gratitude, a moment of confusion or clarity — and a warm, thoughtful voice meets you there. Not a preacher. Not a search engine. Jabbok keeps your name, your faith background and your preferred translation in mind, and meets you where you are right now.
Think of it as a trusted friend who has spent years with Scripture and genuinely cares what it means for your life today — not just in principle, but specifically, for you, in this moment.
Jabbok is Latin for “the written words,” and the name keeps Scripture at the center of everything here. It carries the quiet authority of careful, classic editorial craft — closer to a well-loved study Bible than a tech gadget. And it is simple: easy to say, easy to remember, and at home on your phone’s home screen.
Not exactly. A Bible app gives you access to Scripture. JABBOK helps you live inside it. There is a difference between reading a verse and having a conversation about what it means for your life, right now. JABBOK is the second thing. No app did this until now.
Mostly for the person nobody else is building for: the person who already believes, already has a Bible, and is still carrying something they can't get through alone. They don't need more content. They need someone to sit beside them inside what they already have.
It is also for people who are exploring faith with honest questions, for those who have stepped back from organized religion but never stepped back from God, and for anyone who has ever closed a Bible and thought: I understand what it says. I just don't know what it means for what I'm actually in right now.
You do not have to have the answers. You do not have to have the right vocabulary. You just have to be willing to show up.
Not at all. The Bible is not only for the hard seasons. It is stories, yes — but also counsel, instruction, poetry, lament, encouragement, wisdom about work and relationships and purpose, and the long record of God's companionship with people across every condition of human life. JABBOK was built to draw from all of it. Not just to help you survive the heavy moments, but to illuminate the joyful ones, to deepen the ordinary ones, and to give language to the ones that have no words yet. Whatever you are carrying — grief or gratitude, confusion or clarity, doubt or conviction — Scripture has something to say to it. JABBOK's job is to find it and make that connection real for you.
You do not need to be a Bible scholar. You do not need the right words. You just need to show up.
Tap Profile (👤) at the bottom of the chat screen. It takes about one minute. You'll tell Jabbok your name, your faith background, the tone you want (devotional, study-focused, conversational), and which Bible Version feels most like home — WEB, KJV, or ASV.
Why it matters: every response Jabbok gives is shaped by your profile. Two people asking the same question get different conversations — because they are different people in different places.
At the top of the screen you'll see two small buttons: Scripture and + Conversation.
You can switch modes at any point mid-conversation.
There is no wrong way to start. Here are things people bring to Jabbok every day:
If you're not sure what to say, start with exactly that: "I'm not sure where to start." Jabbok will meet you there.
Jabbok remembers everything you've shared in the conversation. Each reply builds on the last. The longer you stay, the more personal it gets — because it's not answering a question, it's talking with you.
How Jabbok responds depends on what you bring. A question about Scripture gets a different shape of response than a real-life situation you're carrying — because they are genuinely different moments, and treating them the same would miss the point. Jabbok reads what kind of moment it is before it reads the question.
Ask a follow-up, push back, go deeper on a verse, or take the conversation somewhere completely different. There is no script. It follows you.
One thing to know: Jabbok is not a search engine for Bible facts. It is a place for conversation about Scripture. The difference is this — a search engine answers and closes. Jabbok answers and opens. Every response is an invitation to go further, if you want to.
WEB (World English Bible), KJV (King James Version), or ASV (American Standard Version, 1901) — your choice, set in your profile. Every verse JABBOK shows you comes directly from that translation's actual text, never generated or paraphrased. If your profile still shows an older preference like NIV, ESV, NKJV, or NLT, JABBOK keeps it on file but will ask you to choose WEB, KJV, or ASV so every verse it shows you stays exact.
Yes. Your profile includes space to name what matters most to you right now — grief, purpose, mental health, marriage, Scripture study, a career crossroads, relationships, or simply wherever you are. JABBOK uses that context to make every conversation more relevant to what you are actually carrying, not just what you typed.
Yes. Over time, Jabbok builds a quiet portrait of your faith — recurring themes, stories that have landed, things that have come up before. It does not surface this mechanically. It lets it shape how it listens. The goal is that a second or third conversation feels more like continuing something than starting over.
Eighteen months of work went into making sure JABBOK never sounds like a bot, never lectures, and never gives you the impression it is performing faith rather than practicing it.
Most AI tools are built to answer questions. JABBOK is built to hold a conversation. There is a difference. Answering a question closes the door. A good conversation opens it further.
The deeper difference is what JABBOK is trying to do: not just make you feel better in the moment, but help you see your situation through a different lens — one that, if you carry it forward, actually changes how things go. That is the goal of every conversation. Not a good exchange. A different way of seeing something you are actually carrying.
The voice is also specifically tuned to avoid the two things that ruin most faith apps: the sermon tone (preachy, one-directional) and the corporate wellness tone (clean, pleasant, hollow). JABBOK speaks like a trusted friend who has spent years with these texts and genuinely cares what they mean for your life.
No. JABBOK will help you think, reflect, and explore. It will bring what Scripture says to bear on what you are carrying. But it is not a doctrinal authority. It will not tell you what your denomination should be, which theological school is correct, or what you must conclude. It will help you sit with the text and trust you to do the work of discernment.
Bring them. JABBOK is not designed for people who have everything figured out — it is designed for people who are still in the middle of the question. Doubt is not a disqualifier here. It is often the starting point for the most honest conversations.
This is the right question to ask. Here is how JABBOK answered one of our early users who asked it directly:
"Paul's advice was to 'test everything; hold fast what is good' (1 Thessalonians 5:21). If a conversation helps you reflect on Scripture, find a moment of peace, or see a situation through the lens of God's grace — that's good fruit. It's like using a very advanced study Bible that helps you process your thoughts. The goal is always to point you back to the heart of God."— JABBOK, responding to an early user's concern
JABBOK is not a replacement for community, for a pastor, for a spiritual director, or for the quiet of your own prayer life. It is a companion — a space to think out loud, to process, to ask the question you are not quite ready to ask anyone else yet. A bridge, not a destination. That is not a disclaimer — it is the design.
Yes. Your profile and your conversations belong to you. They are not used to train the model, shared with third parties, or reviewed by anyone else. What Jabbok remembers across sessions — themes, stories that landed, things that have come up before — exists only to serve you better in future conversations, not for any other purpose. This space is meant to feel safe enough for honesty. That only works if privacy is real, not just stated.
Because the experience only works if the community is real. When anyone can join anything, no one trusts anyone. JABBOK is built around trust — trust in the space, trust that your conversations are private, trust that the people here are here for the same reason you are. Invitation-only is how we protect that from the beginning.
It also means you are not a user number. You are a person who was specifically invited into something that is still being built. Your experience here matters and will shape what JABBOK becomes.
Nothing formal. Show up with honesty. Use it the way you actually would — not to test it, but to genuinely bring something to it. Then, when it feels right, share what worked, what fell flat, what surprised you, and what you wish it did differently. That feedback — specific, personal, real — is the most valuable thing you can give at this stage.
During the current beta phase, access is managed directly. If there is someone you believe belongs here — someone who would genuinely use this and bring something honest to it — let us know. We would rather grow slowly with the right people than quickly with the wrong ones.
The foundation is built. The voice is tuned. The beta period is about learning how real people actually use it — what they bring, what they come back for, what they need that is not there yet. What comes after beta will be shaped by everything we learn here. You are part of that.
JABBOK is a reflection companion, not emergency care, therapy, pastoral authority, or a replacement for trusted community.
It is a space for honest conversation, Scripture, and quiet reflection. It is not equipped to handle crisis, assess risk, or provide the kind of grounded human presence that some moments require.
If you are in immediate danger or crisis — please contact local emergency services or a crisis line. In the US: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988). Internationally, find your local crisis line at findahelpline.com.
If something hard surfaces in a conversation and you need more than a reflection companion can offer — please reach out to a pastor, counselor, or someone you trust. JABBOK will always be here when you come back.
A space where the exhausted can rest.
A place where the anxious can breathe.
A conversation where the searching can speak.
A moment where the grateful can go deeper.
We are glad you are here.
